[NEWS] SHINee Ventures Into Japan 110115

Last year, an influx of girl groups entered the entertainment business in Japan, but it looks like this year male groups will be attempting to dominate Japanese music charts as well, including SHINee, who are planning in the first half of the year to move their stage to Japan.

SHINee possesses the “pretty looks” – their secret weapon used to attract Japanese fangirls. Hopefully these Japanese ladies will be able to find the fresh and new feeling that they can no longer find within Japanese boy groups in SHINee.

SHINee, who is scheduled to enter Japan in March, is currently at their peak of popularity. On December 26th, the group traveled to Japan to hold their concert in Tokyo’s Japan Yoyogi National Gymnasium. 24,000 fans attended the concert, passionately screaming their lungs out for SHINee.

In order to get ready for their official debut in Japan, SHINee has signed under Japan’s largest entertainment company, Avex, following the footsteps of their fellow labelmate seniors that have paved the road for the Korean hallyu wave in Japan – BoA and DBSK.

SHINee may be preparing to debut in Japan, but they have already attracted a large crowd of fans. Last month, SHINee opened up their official Japanese website, and within an hour, it already had 20,000 fans registered. Because of the large amount of fans swarming to become a member of the site, it crashed after four hours. After a week, the site already had over 100,000 views, showing SHINee’s rising level of popularity in Japan.

SHINee, who is using the concept of pretty boys to steal women’s hearts away, are now starting to become well known by Japanese fans. Most Japanese boy groups have wonderful voices and pretty faces, but SHINee has the charisma that draws people in. The standard that had been set by Japanese groups for singing level and power of performances has now been broken by the Korean boy group, causing them to have to think of a new battle strategy.

SHINee’s company SM Entertainment stated, “Before they officially debut in Japan, having a large showcase in Japan is a very unusual choice for us. At that time SHINee’s live stage in Japan had an even larger response.” They announced that SHINee plans to start selling their albums and meeting their fans in Japan in March.
