110124 Japanese fans pay 10 times ticket cost for SMTOWN LIVE in Tokyo

We reported earlier that more than 400,000 ticket purchase applications were received for the ‘SM Town ‘10 Live in Tokyo’ concert. The concert will be held at the National Yoyogi Stadium in Tokyo on January 25th and 26th. The number of applications received is about 17 times the capacity that the stadium could accommodate for the 2 day concert.

As the concert draws nearer, many fans who did not get the tickets became extremely desperate. They have turned to bidding sites and thus, a huge bidding battle started. On Japanese auctioning sites, the ‘SM Town Live in Tokyo’ concert tickets priced at 26,500 JPY (358,974 KRW or 321 USD) went up almost 10 fold on the final bid to a whopping 254,000 JPY (3,340,734 KRW or 3,072 USD). There were fierce competitions among bidders, even though the bidding prices have gone up multiple folds from the original price. The Korean pop craze amongst Japanese fans has skyrocketed to this level, where they would pay thousands to catch a glimpse of their idols such as SNSD, Super Junior,
SHINee, TVXQ, BoA, etc. at the ‘SM Town Live in Tokyo’ concert. To watch a popular concert in Japan, one needs a lot of luck and money.
