On November 14th, this year’s MelOn Music Awards was held at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium. Famous idols attended the awards ceremony, including contemporary boyband SHINee!
The five shining members of SHINee strutted through the Red Carpet wearing fashionable attires by popular british brand, ‘Burberry’. They were briefly interviewed about their expectations for the prestigious awarding night. The boys of SHINee were off to a good start as they won their first award for the night, clinching their 6th Bonsang award for their song, ‘Dream Girl’.
As the saying goes, ‘save the best for last’, SHINee was the final act to perform, as they brought in a unique and jaw-dropping stage. Each member of SHINee had their brief solo performance; the leader of SHINee, Onew kicked off the performance, singing ‘Lucifer’, followed by resident rapper, Minho with ‘Ring Ding Dong’, Key with ‘Juliette’, Taemin with ‘Sherlock’ and last but not the least, Jonghyun with their 2013 hit song, ‘Dream Girl’! SHINee's hoobaes (juniors), EXO performed ‘Why So Serious?’, and it was then followed by the SHINee members once again with a remarkable stage set up for ‘Everybody’.
Fans were at the edge of their seats as they anticipated the winner for this year’s Artist of The Year (Daesang) Award, one of the three major awards of the event. Six musical acts were nominated for this category and it was none other than SHINee that reigned supreme and took home their first ever Daesang!
The boys burst into tears but managed to present a truly touching speech, thanking their parents, managers, the production team, choreographers, as well as their fanbase, SHINee World, for voting for and supporting them. Key and Minho then added that they will strive and continue to do their very best and requested their fans to keep supporting them. They ended their speech by doing a group hug on the stage and fellow label mate, EXO were the first to congratulate their seniors.
Congratulations to SHINee!
