SHINee has done it again, victoriously winning two trophies for both of their nominations at the 27th Golden Disk Awards! The Golden Disk Awards are said to be the most prestigious music award honor, the Korean equivalent of a Grammy award.
Fans were able to catch SHINee rehearsing for Sherlock and Lucifer before the event begun, reportedly screaming loudly after hearing SHINee’s voices.
SHINee arrived at the red carpet looking stunning in black and white suits. They delightfully surprised fans by sporting new hairstyles, then went on to give a short interview at the media conference. SHINee stated, “We’re very grateful of the love and support our fans have given us. We will try our best to improve further so thank you for supporting us!”
About halfway through the award ceremony, SHINee was crowned with the Popularity Award for the third time after winning the same title in their mega-successful years of 2009 and 2010. They had previously placed first in the fan voting that contributed to the award decision.
SHINee then went on to claim the honorable Disk Bonsang trophy! This is their second Bonsang to date, with the last being a trophy for Lucifer in 2010. The members took the stage and accepted each of their awards graciously, giving humble speeches and not once forgetting to express their thankfulness towards SHINee World.
The night concluded with SHINee performing in Malaysia for the very first time. They lit up the stage with Lucifer, had a short talk session, and ended their stage in a Sherlock remix infused with Clue and Note. SHINee’s was the very last performance of the ceremony. All the artists present then came back onstage to say their goodbyes to the audience.
Be sure to catch the official broadcast of the 27th Golden Disk Awards on JTBC. The ceremony will air at 11:00 PM KST on December 19th.
